چکیده

This paper describes a benchmark for nonlinear system identi cation. A Wiener-Hammerstein system is selected as test object. In such a structure there is no direct access to the static nonlinearity starting from the measured input/output, because it is sandwiched between two unknown dynamic systems. The signal-to-noise ratio of the measurements is quite high, which puts the focus of the benchmark on the ability to identify the nonlinear behaviour, and not so much on the noise rejection properties. The benchmark is not intended as a competition, but as a tool to compare the possibilities of di erent methods to deal with this speci c nonlinear structure.

Identification of Hammerstein Systems Using Separable Random Multisines, Report no. LiTH-ISY-R-2722

The choice of input signal is very important in identification of nonlinear systems. In this paper, it is shown that random multisines with a flat amplitude spectrum are separable. The separability property means that certain conditional expectations are linear and it implies that random multisines easily can be used to obtain accurate estimates of the linear time-invariant part of a Hammerstei...

Identification of Wiener systems with monotonous nonlinearity , Report no. LiTH-ISY-R-2787

A Wiener system is composed of a linear dynamic subsystem followed by a static nonlinearity. It is well known in the literature that the identi cation of the linear subsystem of a Wiener system can be separated from that of the output nonlinearity, if the input signal is Gaussian. In order to deal with non Gaussian inputs, two new algorithms are proposed in this paper for direct identi cation o...

Optimality analysis of the Two-Stage Algorithm for Hammerstein system identification , Report no. LiTH-ISY-R-2909

The Two-Stage Algorithm (TSA) has been extensively used and adapted for the identi cation of Hammerstein systems. It essentially deals with the parameter estimation problem for a linear regression parameterized in a bilinear form. This paper is motivated by a somewhat contradictory fact: though the optimality of the TSA has been established only in the case of some special weighting matrices, t...

Generalised Hammerstein-Wiener System Estimation and a Benchmark Application

This paper examines the use of a so-called “generalised Hammerstein–Wiener” model structure that is formed as the concatenation of an arbitrary number of Hammerstein systems. The latter are taken here to be memoryless nonlinearities followed by linear time invariant dynamics. Hammerstein, Wiener, Hammerstein–Wiener and Wiener–Hammerstein models are all special cases of this structure. The param...

Maximum Likelihood Identification of Wiener Models, Report no. LiTH-ISY-R-2902

The Wiener model is a block oriented model having a linear dynamic system followed by a static nonlinearity. The dominating approach to estimate the components of this model has been to minimize the error between the simulated and the measured outputs. We show that this will in general lead to biased estimates if there is other disturbances present than measurement noise. The implications of Bu...
